Human Lore
Humans are a mortal race and are the dominant species on Earth. Though many Humans see their own kind as top of the natural order, many if not all supernatural beings, regardless of their origin and alignment, look down upon them because of their mortality, fallibility and physical frailty. The primary abilities of humans include adaptability and versatility. For the most part, humans remain outmatched by supernaturals; however, some have been known to utilize tools and weapons to succeed in combat against these magical creatures. For means of survival, most humans must rely on intelligence and teamwork to have any chance to prevail.
For a long time Bellamy Island was the United States greatest secret. The booming facility sat on a small, uncharted island of the same name located on the outskirts of the Bermuda Triangle. They hired only the best of the best to work at this prestigious laboratory, privately owned by the US government. Many soldiers and researchers didn't know what they were getting into when they were stationed at Bellamy, and some never fully understood. The stories from those who left the facility are mostly regarded as nothing but ghost tales. Too dramatic or bizarre to doubtlessly take as fact.
When a prestigious institute was built in place of the old Lab in 2003, life on Bellamy changed once more. Humans, and all other walks of life, funneled to the small subtropical island. Living in paradise while achieving the finest level of education seems like a dream come true to many. The typical day to day on Bellamy is warm and bustling. The island's climate and positioning means it remains mostly mild in winter, spring and autumn – yet has been known to snow on rare occasions. The tropical heat commonly starts from late May to September and is temperate by Florida and Islands around the region's standards.
An average day for a Bellamy resident looks no different from that of any other, despite it being far from average in actuality. Inhabitants wake up and head to work or school like in any other place. Crime on the island remains moderate yet safe, driven in part by the drug scene – though not out of the usual amongst college towns. From the reputable Institute to a vibrant nightlife scene, Bellamy has so much to offer. The gem of an Island seems to have a little slice of everything, and perhaps that’s part of the reason why it’s become such a popular destination for people from all over the world. If only they knew the real dangers that lurked within.
