Voidsent Possession

The process of Voidsent Possession is fairly complex. A few things have to happen before a Voidsent can take possession of a vessel. The first, and arguably most important, is the host praying to a higher being for help. Though usually done on the brink of death with no other resort, some outlier possessions have occurred with healthy vessel and suicidal ideations. The general gist of the call needs to be for help, and allowing some other being to be in full control.

Once a call is made, it’s heard across their dimension and all dwelling Voidsents race to be the first to obtain the prospective vessel. It’s a test of speed and strength, to see who may come out victorious. Only one Voidsent may inhabit a vessel at a time, and sadly they cannot survive in the mortal world without a host. So only the first through has a chance. This is where the process gets complex.

From the outside, a possession appears exactly how you would imagine. The body begins to contort and flex in unnatural ways, eyes roll back into the head, bones sometimes snap, and mumbling may be heard by those closeby as the Voidsent fights its way into a full possession. Though some hosts may try, vessels who fight back lack the energy or power needed to win.

Once a Voidsent has entered its vessel, and has full control of the host. The previous soul is completely pushed aside, although it remains present. The vessel's previous tenant has no access to control over the body or powers if applicable, leaving it helpless within. This is where a clash between souls may begin. A Voidsent can constantly hear their human vessels' soul speaking intertwined with their own thoughts. The pair must learn to occupy the space as a combined effort to some extent. Leniency from both halves is key, if the partnership has any hopes of working fluently together. In some cases, unison isn't possible as host and spirit continue to clash, leaving a constant internal battle.
